[Fwd: Re: crypt field not been populated during user creation]

Kebba Foon
yes Gordon,

i send this earlier, i stated that i was using debian 6 and the fix that
i did to have it working.

Thanks
Kebba

Hi Gordon,
As i said earlier the crypt was not been populated when i create or edit
new users, i think i might have found the problem. am using Debian
squeeze 6 with PHP 5.3.3-7+squeeze1 with Suhosin-Patch (cli) (built: Mar
18 2011 17:22:52). it looks like the crypt function on this version of
php does not work with a null salt value, i edited the crypt_password
function in /config/function.php to read $cryptedpass = crypt($clear);
instead $cryptedpass = crypt($clear,$salt); and everything seems to
work. my crypt field on the database are now been populated.

Please note that the php5-mcrypt was already install before i was
creating the users. i hope this will be helpful to other debian users or
those upgrading to the new php5 on debian squeeze.

Thanks
Kebba

Hi Kebba,

Thanks for the reply.  For some reason your earlier email never reached
my server so I was unaware that you had solved your problem.  I checked
my exim logs and the mailman archives and its not there.
Strange......   Nevertheless, I am glad that the problem was solved.

Gordon
